South Western Qld – Winter 2018 – Day 6 – Toowoomba to home

6-1

A sleep in – a great bed – best of the trip. Then a drive around the range to Picnic Point. This is Tabletop looking east from the Great Divide.

6-2

A rock felt fern on a hoop pine trunk

6-3

The New England Highway at Highfields north of Toowoomba. Go to the next picture if you want to avoid a rant. Highways are being renamed on all/most signage. The New England Highway is now part of Australia’s Country Way. I assume this is a tourism based decision. Similarly the Warrego Highway is now the Warrego Way with WW signage along its length – Western Wanderers? Where’s Wally? Walt Whitman? Walter White? Similarly bye bye Pacific Highway, welcome Pacific Coast Way. I wonder if the expensive rebranding will have benefits for the communities along these roads.

6-4

Avo look at this! Roadside stall at Ravensbourne fresh from the farm.

6-5

Reed avocadoes at the farm.

6-4g

Ravensbourne National Park protects a small patch of sutropical rainforest that once grew along the nearby section of the Great Dividing Range.

6-4h

Stinging tree and palm grove

6-4f

Vines

6-6

Millenial win – cheap farm fresh avos at second roadside stall.

6-7

Esk is in Brisbane Valley and the hills surrounding this area have red deer so there is a bit of deer theme in town. Actually our meal was quite cheap.

6-8

The bluff overlooking Esk

6-9

A Knight to Remember – Ni Ni Ni !!!!!!!

6-10

Somerset Dam

6-11

Somerset Dam looking north towards Kilcoy and the Conondale and Bellthorpe Ranges in the distance.

Thank you for joining us again on our travels across our great land.
