We were warned around deer on roads – these were in a paddock just ouside Walcha.

Most of the autumn-toned trees had fully deciduated – this was the last of the colour.

We visited the local cemetery to see the grave of Nat Buchanan. He managed Bowen Downs station near Aramac in the 1860s and most likely knew my great-great grandfather who visited as a carrier between the station and Bowen.  My great grandmother was born there in 1863. Buchanan introduced grazing to huge areas in northern Australia.
