The Red Centre – Winter 2017 Day 19 – The Heart of Australia

If Australia was a person, Uluru would be its heart. Every Australian should see it at least once in their life. I was long overdue.

The obligatory early start for sunrise was dampened by drizzly rain at 5:30am. It did cease about 7am but created a darkened moody sunrise.

19-1

There was a brief glow which backlit the desert oaks on the Yulara-Uluru Road.

19-2

Sunrise from the Sunset View carpark

19-7

After the sunrise we did the entire loop road to see Uluru from every angle.

19-3

The northern face.

19-12

We went back to Yulara to move rooms into our apartment for the next 3 nights. This also made space for two additional family members joining our travel team briefly. This is the view from the sand dune at the back of our unit across one of the solar farms to Kata Djuta (Olgas).

19-11

And you thought my puns were bad.
