Airlie Beach is a crowded strip with cars swarming back and forth, but we prefer the road less travelled so headed off to Cedar Falls and Conway Beach in the Conway Ranges off the road to Proserpine for the day.

Cedar Falls is a popular spot especially in summer as it is croc and marine stinger free.

Creek creatures include small fish and the plentiful water striders.

Native hibiscus were common on the road into the falls.

A Blue-winged kookaburra on a power line on the road to Conway Beach- slightly smaller than the Laughing Kookaburra with paler eye and lighter head. The call is also different.

Conway Beach is a quiet spot to roam on the muddy/sandy flats.

Look up and live! The silent menace lines the foreshore.

Nature’s artwork on display in the sand.

There is plenty of birdlife on the sand flats such as this pied oystercatcher.
