We were joined on the weekend by a family member who flew in from Cooktown. She expressed interest in seeing where her grandad had lived and worked on the Atherton Tableland so we did a circuit up the range to Kuranda, across the tableland north-south and back to Innisfail before returning to Cairns. We revisited a number of places already seen.

Plenty of signs – harder to see.

The “curtain” of the curtain tree fig.

Slow going at times down the Palmerston Highway. This driver was very courteous and allowed us to pass as soon as he could.

Endless ranges in Wooroonooran National Park.
The sturdy structures in Mamu Rainforest Canopy Walk.
A bumpy satin ash flower and climbing pandanus in the Mamu rainforest.

Inquisitive brown pigeon at Mamu.

Cairns foreshore from the Esplanade.

Cairns nightlife is a stream of colour and activity.
