
The day started with further reminiscing around Clermont including visits to the silos, past residences, racecourse with cricket pitch, Copperfield historic mine site and school.


We took the road to Moranbah and Nebo passing through more volcanic landscapes with extensive sorghum fields interspersed in grazing land. The peak above is Wolfang Peak.

Coal mining activity is extensive on this road with several mines visible and many more signposted.

The historic Nebo Hotel built in 1886. It was known as Fort Cooper Hotel and is on the Queensland Heritage Register.

We drove through pastoral country and vistas like this one of Homevale National Park.

An unexpected sight was Lake Elphinstone – a natural lake south of Glenden.

As the sun began to set, we passed more coal mines as we entered Collinsville for the night.
