A very wet morning with 2 hours driving through steady rain in heavy traffic. This is the Miriam Vale Hotel

Rockhampton’s famous greeting was a welcome sight after the wet drive.

After a quick lunch and drive through Rockhampton memory lanes, we drove west.

The highway and train line are never far from each other. The huge coal trains passed with high frequency.

The icy sky with the cold south-westerly change created some amazing patterns.

The bottle trees became more numerous the further west we travelled.

We arrived at Blackwater, our overnight destination and saw the local sights during an early evening exercise walk through town followed by a good dinner at the Blackwater Workers Club.

Darkness on the edge of town – finishing the evening with the brilliance of the night sky.
